Musical Interlude – Hard Time Killing Floor Blues edition

June 5, 2012

This song, from Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, is a fun one to learn. Whereas the open D tuning is fairly common, for this song the G string is dropped not to F#, but to F. The result is an open D minor tuning. Remember what Nigel Tufnel said about D minor. It is the saddest of keys.

And thus concludes today’s scattershot lesson in music theory with Ulysses.
