At First I Thought It Was a New Season of Portlandia
May 30, 2012
New post at GMP on the now-infamous lip-dub proposal. At first I was going to write more snark–nice mustache, how hipster can two people be, will the wedding feature a full reenactment of Rocky Horror–but I instead went serious. I’m alsop still getting acclimated to working with an editor. The Up reference was to introduce this video which didn’t make it to the final.
That pretty much sums up my position. Engagements and weddings aren’t important; it’s the being married part people need to work on. All these mega proposals and million dollar weddings are ridiculous.

Gave up using songs to title your posts, huh?
People had started publicly noticing the trend.
I win
Where?
Shit. Matthew left one comment that only referred to the song and not the post, so I assumed bc he’s astute.
So I admit I lost.
I actually liked “Up” – except for the obvious PC garbage tossed in by Hollywood.
Remembering that sequence where the old guy looked-back on his younger days, I was struck by the poignant sentimentality of it; not the effect, but how the writers looked longingly back to a thing they knew they’d never experience.
I liked Up as well. I included the video as an example of what I consider a good relationship.
OT: You went straight into my spam bin. WP spams me everywhere I go until I’ve been approved.
