Freedom Requires Free Will
Let’s be honest, Senator Rand Paul is better at the game than his father. He holds back when common sense says let loose because common sense, as has been said, is not so common. We can only hope the republic holds together long enough for him to assume a leadership role.
By way of example, Rand opens up his latest op-ed with this brilliant quote from Pope John Paul II:
In his 1991 encyclical Centesimus Annus, Pope John Paul II delivered a scathing critique of socialism, declaring that “the fundamental error of socialism is anthropological in nature. Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated. . . . Socialism likewise maintains that the good of the individual can be realized without reference to his free choice, to the unique and exclusive responsibility which he exercises in the face of good or evil.
Salvation, whether earthly or divine, cannot be purchased through a collective. The Constitution matters. The zeitgeist may not worry with contraception, hell I am quite squishy when it comes to contraception, but mandating others apply our secular choices to their religious convictions is antithetical to the First Amendment. It is practically impossible to be in it, but not of it, when you’re on the business end of a gun demanding you become of it.
Leviathan chips away.
Perfect. Again.
