Small Observations on Consumption Directed Toward Kids
Recently spent a day at home with my sick elder daughter. Had to let TV occupy her for a bit while I got some work done. Nick Jr. has lots of commercials between shows. Elder saw a Barbie commercial and said she wanted the doll advertised. I’ve never had moral qualms with Barbie insofar as her measurements are concerned, but I will not be purchasing the Barbie with the accessory dog accessory. Dogs are pets. They are not decorations.
Safety warnings are out of control. The girls have a play kitchen and someone gave them some toy pot holders to go with this kitchen. On the pot holders there are large “Caution. Will not actually protect against heat” warnings. Really? Thanks for letting us know. I thought those oven mitts, made of cotton and slightly thicker than a t-shirt, would prevent against heat.
Am I the only one who finds Snow White creepy? “Man that dead chick is hot. I must have her.”
Nick Jr doesn’t have commercials. You must be thinking of another channel.
Must’ve been straight Nickelodeon.
